About The Teachers

Hello! Opening up Janet's Music school has been my dream for as long as I can remember. I'm so excited that my dream has come true. I have been teaching for over 15 years.  I started out playing piano and singing when I was 8 and I haven't stopped and never will. I worked at a music store/ school while going to University and just found my passion being a teacher. Now I'm running my own school and I love it!  

 Martina is originally from BC and started taking singing lessons when she was 15 yrs old. At 16 she started competing at the Kiwanis Music Festivals and rose to the top among her peers. She placed many times in different categories. She has been studying classical music for over 10 years now and has completed her RCM Grade 8 for voice. She is a very patient, fun and enthusiastic teacher.  

 Lareina is a Canadian- Filipino music teacher. She started piano lessons with Janet at the age of 4 yrs old. She also plays guitar which she started at the age of 9 yrs old. She has reached Grade 8 RCM for piano. Lareina loves to play piano during mass at church and also teaches after church. She has performed at many events around the Filipino Community. 

 Yiyan is a Chinese-Canadian music teacher who started playing piano at the age of 6. Over the course of her music career, she’s received two scholarships at the Kiwanis Music Festivals and has reached RCM Level 10 three years ago. A fun fact is that Yiyan is also a badminton coach as well!
 

Justin has been playing piano since was 4 years old, starting in Music for Young Children. Now, he is studying to complete his Bachelor of Computer Science with a minor in Music at Carleton University. With a passion for both computers and music, he hopes to one day create and publish video-games and compose their soundtracks.

 Mackenzi Drew has had a love for music ever since she was young. She started playing guitar and writing songs at the age of 12.  She began performing as a singer-songwriter in 2013. She plays  guitar in local bands and performs at venues around Ottawa. She has a passion for lyric writing, composing, recording, perfoming and more recently teaching. She has been teaching guitar at Janet's music since fall 2020.
